WE ASK YOU TO SUPPORT THE STARVING ARTIST IN YOUR SOUL..

Since 1993, Bottom’s Dream has been dedicated to producing innovative new theatre work which explores theatrical forms and heightened language in performance. Really explores it. We tackle work that other theatres don’t. We don’t believe in a "season". We present one or two offerings a year and we do it because we are motivated in working on and presenting wonderfully realized versions of difficult but fun texts. We don’t do it because we need to fill a subscription season or to pay the rent. We are "professional actors working hungrily on the fringe."

Bottom’s Dream presents premieres of plays by the newest and brightest American Writers with bold voices and poetic imaginations. We have presented a free reading series, co–produced with the coolest independent press in Los Angeles, Sun and Moon Press, for the last 4 years. That’s over 30 readings from America’s edgiest playwrights. These readings, full productions and small national tours has been the essence of Bottom’s Dream as we strive to foster dialogue around the political, social and human issues that face our society.

Bottom’s Dream endeavors to provide a platform for artists who share our vision and a forum for Los Angeles audiences to engage with new and provocative works.

And we don’t stop there!

Bottom’s Dream is a very active member with issues relating to the Local and National theatre community. We are a founding member of THE RAT CONFERENCE (a national organization of independent theaters that communicate, inform, support and share new plays and collaborate on new works) and has been a key player in helping to invent the BIG CHEAP THEATRE ROUNDTABLE (BCT), which is a support and communication system amongst Los Angeles theatres and artists. Bottom’s Dream has been a founding member of The Edge Of The World Festival. This year November 9-19th we are hosting 6 other companies at The Ivy Sub as part of the Edge Festival. We are represented on the Board of Governors of Theatre LA and have been the number one arts group recipient in Culver City, for our work at the Ivy Substation, for the last 3 years. We collaborate with the best independent theatres in the country. Our collaborations in LA have included working with theatres from Seattle, Dallas, Austin, NY, Mpls, and San Diego.

SO BY NOW YOU’RE THINKING, "HMMM, YOU GUYS SOUND GOOD…MAYBE I SHOULD HELP A WORTHY NON PROFIT ARTS ORGANIZATION. WE SHOULD HELP OUT WITH THE ARTS. IF we don’t do it for ourselves who will do it for us?"

OK, last page – and here’s the pitch: $10,000 for the next two years of our budget needs to come from contributions from people like you, our audience. And we can raise the money in all kinds of ways. Like 10 people can give $1,000 (yeah, right) or maybe 1,0000 of you can give $10. If everyone on the mailing list gave $10, we could achieve our goal. So that’s what we’re asking: $10. C’mon, less than three cents a day. Of course, we’ll take more if you can afford it. It’s going to a great theatre here in Los Angeles. So fill out the form below and send a check.
